Τhe Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies is offering for the academic year 2015-2016 a Master’s degree in Politics and Economics of Contemporary Eastern and South- Eastern Europe.

Programme Aims:
• prepare students for careers in business, government, NGOs, and international organizations operating in Eastern and South- Eastern Europe,
• strengthen the skills and deepen the specialized knowledge of people already following such careers,
• prepare students for PhD study.

The programme promotes and strengthens research in the area of Eastern and South- Eastern Europe, involving the graduate students in relevant research projects.

Entry Requirements: Candidates should hold a first degree preferably in politics or economics, but any other field will be considered. Candidates are required to submit the following documents:

1. An application form with a personal statement of purpose.
2. Curriculum Vitae.
3. Certified copies of first degree and related transcripts, translated into either English or Greek where necessary.
4. Proof of proficiency in English.
5. Two letters of recommendation.
Job experience, proficiency of other languages, and holding of a postgraduate degree are welcome and will be additionally evaluated.

Language of instruction: English

Duration: The programme lasts 13 months, but may be extended to 15 months under special circumstances.

Fees: € 4000.

Scholarships: The program offers financial aid to international students with a strong academic record. Also, a limited number of tuition fees waivers, per semester, are available for students with excellent results on semester exams.

When to Apply: The candidates can submit their applications all year round until places filled. However, we suggest that you apply as early as possible to ensure place availability.

There is a possibility of applying for the Masters programme organized in cooperation with the University of Bamberg and with support of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).

The Programme allows you to:

• Achieve two MA degrees within two years.
• Acquire theoretical expertise in political institutions and processes in an international framework.
• Build up considerable empirical knowledge of Eastern and Southeastern Europe by benefiting from the dual component of the Double Degree programme.
• Supported by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) with funding from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
• Scholarships are available.

The language of instruction is English at both locations. Modules taught in German at Bamberg are open to all students with an adequate command of German.
